New Delhi: After West Bengal, Maharashtra, now the tableau of Kerala is also not allowed to participate in the Republic Day parade. Kerala had proposed the traditional art of Theyam and Kalamandalam for its tableau. This proposal has been rejected by the selection committee of the Ministry of Defense. Earlier, tableaux of Maharashtra and West Bengal were not allowed.

A total of 56 tableaux were proposed for the parade ceremony this year, out of which 28 have been contested. Please tell that the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro will be the chief guest of the ceremony. According to the ministry, the tableau of Bengal was first selected according to the parade process. A total of 56 tableaux proposals were received in the Republic Day Parade to be held in 2020. Of these, 32 proposals were from the Ministries or Departments of the States and Union Territories.

According to the ministry, five rounds of meetings were held in the expert committee for the election of these tableaus. Subsequently, out of these, 22 proposals from 16 states and union territories and six tableaux of Ministries and Departments of Ministries were selected for the parade. Let us tell you that proposals are invited from the States, Union Territories, Central Ministries and Departments for the Republic Day Parade. The tableaux are selected by a special committee consisting of people associated with art, culture, painting, sculpture, music, architecture and choreography. The committee considers the proposals and sends its recommendation to the Ministry of Defense. Given the ban of time, a limited number of tableaux are selected.
