Kerala nun rape case: 5 member SIT team interogates Bishop Franco Mulakkal

Kochi: Accused Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal arrived at Crime Branch (CID) in Kochi where he is all set to interrogation by a 5 members team led by Vaikom Deputy SP K Subhash, Kerala.

A team of five officers of a special investigation team (SIT) is interrogating of rape accused Bishop of Jalandhar, Franco Mulakkal. Vaikom Deputy Superintendent of police (DySP) K Subhash met with Kochi Range IG Vijay Sakhare at the latter’s home this morning.

The two officials were accompanied by Kottayam SP Harisankar. Security existence has been beefed up at the CID office in Kochi ahead of the cross-examination of the accused Bishop Mulakkal arrived the spot around 11 am on Wednesday morning.

Senior officials took the decision to change the venue of questioning due to security reasons on Tuesday shifting the spot from Kottayam to Tripunithura due to security concerns.

 Worth mention here the 54-year-old Bishop had approached the Kerala High Court earlier this week seeking an anticipatory bail. However, the hearing on his bail plea has been adjourned to September 25. On August 13, members of the SIT had questioned the Bishop for about nine hours at his own residence in Jalandhar. A report by The Times of India asserted that the investigating team found some loop holes in the Bishop's statements.
