Kerala Nun Rape Case: Local court sent Bishop Franco Mulkkal for 3-day police custody

Kochi: Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulkkal, the main accused of the Kerala Nun Rape Case, who was arrested on Friday night following heavy protest in Kerala, the court has now directed to send the Bishop to police custody till September 24 while hearing the rape case along with the Kottayam court also rejected the bishop's bail application today.

Earlier, the Kerala Police demanded to take the bishop on remand in the court, saying that Franco Mulkkal had gone to the convent for the purpose of rape on May 5, 2014, where he closed the room number 20 at 10.48 minutes from inside and indulged in unnatural misdeeds with nun. The police told the court that the Bishop had threatened Nun that if she talked public, she would have to face serious consequences.

Police told that on the next day means May 6, 2014, the rape was done by the Bishop with nun, and in the same room between the year 2014 and 2016, 13 times she was raped issuing threats. After three days of interrogation by Special team police submitted its report today. After which the court decided to send the accused in 3 days police custody. While defending himself, Bishop had said that he had not gone to the Convent on May 5, but his driver said in his statement that he himself had left the Bishop in the in the convent.
