According to the Heath Minister KK Shailaja’s statement,   COVID-19 was detected in 4,698 persons in Kerala on Sunday. 4,034 people including 43 healthcare workers were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown for 528." At the same time, 5,258 patients have recovered from the disease today. 29 deaths in the last few days were confirmed today as due to Covid and the related death toll in the State is now 2,623, KK Shailaja added. She said 46,375 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.13%. A total of 69,67,972 samples have so far been sent for testing.

The district-wise numbers for the new positive cases are Malappuram 649, Kozhikode 612, Ernakulam 509, Thrissur 438, Kottayam 416, Palakkad 307, Kollam 269, Kannur 267, Thiruvananthapuram 254, Wayanad 234, Pathanamthitta 229, Idukki 222, Alappuzha 218 and Kasaragod 74. Today, 93 of those diagnosed with the disease have arrived in the state from outside. The count of the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Malappuram 608, Kozhikode 594, Ernakulam 360, Thrissur 417, Kottayam 397, Palakkad 156, Kollam 262, Kannur 228, Thiruvananthapuram 164, Wayanad 222, Pathanamthitta 145, Idukki 209, Alappuzha 203 and Kasargod 69.

The numbers of infected healthcare personnel from the districts are Ernakulam & Kannur 7 each, Thrissur 6, Palakkad 5; Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode & Wayanad 4 each, Thiruvananthapuram 3, Kollam 2 and Kottayam 1. The district-wise figures of the patients whose test results were negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 342, Kollam 347, Pathanamthitta 198, Alappuzha 425, Kottayam 455, Idukki 99, Ernakulam 804, Thrissur 276, Palakkad 381, Malappuram 886, Kozhikode 686, Wayanad 201, Kannur 111 and Kasaragod 47. At present, there are 59,438 patients undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection while a total of 6,07,119 people have so far recovered from the disease in Kerala.
