Heavy rain is affecting several states of the country. The list includes Uttarakhand and Kerala, where heavy rains have wreaked havoc. Amidst all this, the MET department in its latest update has predicted heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Bihar, UP, West Bengal and Odisha. Recently, IMD has said that Kohima, Silchar, Krishnanagar, Baripada, Malkangiri, Nalgonda, Bagalkot and Vengurla are likely to receive heavy rain in the next 24 hours. At the same time, it is being said that heavy rain is expected in AP, Telangana, Karnataka and Goa till October 23 during the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry till October 24. Besides Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Shivhar in Bihar, heavy rain is likely to occur in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa and Katihar in the north east today. Delhi is also witnessing heavy rain while a yellow alert has been sounded in Kerala. Heavy rain is also expected in Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The MET department has said that heavy rain and snowfall are expected from October 22 to 24 due to active western disturbances in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which has prevented the MET department from visiting Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. It is also being said that most parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim and North East India are likely to receive rain during the next 24 hours and an alert has been sounded here.
