Kerala: Six Charged for Disrespecting Judge in Ranjith Sreenivasan Murder Case

ALAPUZHA: Six people have been charged by the Alappuzha South Police for allegedly disrespecting Judge VG Sridevi, who handed down the death penalty to 15 individuals for the murder of BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan. The accused are Beevi KU, Aslam Valavupacha, Naseermon Khalil, Azad Ameer, Rafi Thiruvananthapuram, and Shafeeq.

The Mavelikkara Additional Sessions Court deemed the case as 'rarest of rare' and sentenced all the accused to death. The court emphasized that those who brutally murdered Ranjith Sreenivasan in front of his mother, wife, and daughter do not deserve leniency. Following the verdict, there were threats against Judge VG Sridevi, including on social media. Subsequently, security for the judge was bolstered.

The incident occurred on December 19, 2021, when assailants broke into Ranjith Sreenivasan's home in Vellakinar, Alappuzha, and brutally killed him in front of his family. The individuals convicted in the case include Naizam, Ajmal, Anoop, Muhammad Aslam, Abdul Kalam (Salam), Abdul Kalam, Sarafudeen, Manshad, Jaseeb Raja, Sameer, Naseer, Zakir Hussain, Shaji (Poovathil Shaji), and Shernas Ashraf. They are associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI).
