‘Khelo India’, a national programme for development of sports, a prestigious initiative by the Government, in which Anju Bobby George and P. Gopi Chand have been included as members.

Anju, a renowned long jumper, is India’s only athlete to have won a medal at the World Championships.

Anju recently resigned as chairperson of the Kerala Sports Council along with 13 other council members in protest against the insulting behaviour of Kerala Sports Minister E.P. Jayarajan.

Anju and Gopi Chand are the only sportspersons in the seven-member committee which will be headed by Sports Secretary Rajiv Yadav.
