In the Khelo India football events, the first match of Group B was played between Karnataka and Meghalaya 18 being played at Emerald Heights School on Monday.
Karnataka’s Abhisheik scored the goal in 4th minute of the game to put his team ahead 1-0. After this goal Karnataka team was playing defensive while Meghalaya team continued to attack Karnataka with their traditional small passes. A brilliant attack by the Karnataka defender brought down Meghalaya’s forward player in the penalty area, whereby Meghalaya got a penalty gift, which Meghalaya’s Kanison Kharneyor scored in the 40th minute to give his team a 1-1 draw.After the interval, both teams attacked each other with brilliant passes, but in the 67th minute of the match, Balananshigeng Khangsden scored a brilliant goal by tricking 3 players to give his team a 2-1 victory. The second match of Group B was played between West Bengal and Orissa. West Bengal beat Orissa 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.
Sirimanta (59th minute and 80th minute) and Pritam Biswas (8th minute) scored for West Bengal, B Sibba (2nd) and Sunil Khilla (93rd) scored for Odisha. Till the end, the score was 3-2 in the name of West Bengal. From Pool A, Punjab and Kerala and from Pool B, Meghalaya and Karnataka entered the semi-finals by topping their respective pools.
On February 8, the first semi-final match will be played between Punjab and Karnataka at 10 am and the second semi-final match will be played between Meghalaya and Kerala at 2:30 pm
