In order to give opportunity to young players of the country, for the first time university games have been included in Khelo India. The games will be held in Bhubaneswar from 21 February. But shooting the game with the biggest hopes for the country in the Olympics will not happen here. There will be 17 games in the University Games. Many universities, as well as the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), have also sent a letter to the Sports Minister about this.
Anjum Mudgil, who won the Tokyo Olympic ticket in 10m air rifle, has said that our players have won medals in big events. Khelo India Games is a big platform and shooting should be included here. Our shooters will get good competition here and they will also be able to prepare better. At the same time, Gauri Sheoran, the gold medalist of the 25 meter sports pistol at the World University Games, has also asked to include shooting in the games.
He has said that India has won the most medals in the last year. Therefore, the medal is expected from the shooting itself. SAI spokesperson said, 'Khelo India University Games are happening for the first time. It was earlier organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). We decided to leave the shooting only after consulting the AIU. According to sources, Bhubaneswar does not have facilities for shooting. So it is not included. If this is the case, the shooting can be done in Delhi. National Games are to be held in Goa this time. There is also talk of shooting events in Delhi and Pune.
