Following enormous success in Korea, Kia's sport utility vehicle (SUV) model Sportage will target European car markets. On August 26, Kia unveiled a teaser for the upcoming Sportage GT range. The European-spec New Sportage is said to be somewhat smaller than the US variant.

Furthermore, the body design has been improved. The fog lamp and the air intake hole have been aggressively cut, and the rear door has decreased, according to a rendering picture published by Kia. The quarter glass has been removed as well. Although the inside design has not been revealed, it is believed to be identical to that of the Korean model. A high-tech system, a quick-response powertrain, and cutting-edge safety technologies will also be included in the New Sportage.

It is expected that the New Sportage: European-spec will have a power train added mild hybrid system with gasoline engine (150hp/180hp) and plug-in hybrid (230hp/265hp), and four-wheel drive model and front-wheel-drive model will be provided. The New Sportage will be launched in Europe on September 1, and officially sold in 2022. The electric vehicle version of the New Sportage will also be released in 2023. The price starts at £20,000 (about 30 million WON).
