London: On Saturday morning, UK police located a 26-year-old killer who had fled from a secure hospital in west London on Monday while on escorted leave. He was then brought back to the facility.

The public had been cautioned earlier in the week not to approach the "violent" Mosa Jamal Abid, who had fatally stabbed his cousin Moamen Settar in 2016, by the Metropolitan Police.

On Monday, around 3 p.m., Abid was said to have broken free from a newsstand in Uxbridge Road, Ealing, and was believed to have gone into Brent Lodge Park.

Abid was on escorted leave with a hospital employee when he escaped. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, a member of the public contacted the police to let them know that the escapee had been found in the Northolt region.

For the manslaughter of his cousin, Abid received a sentence in 2018 under the Mental Health Act. He had previously escaped from Homerton Hospital in Hackney, east London, according to the Metropolitan Police, in October 2019.

"Pleased to confirm that Mosa Abid, 26, who had fled while on hospital leave in Ealing on April 10, has been located — he has been returned to hospital," wrote Ealing Police in a tweet.

Mosa, if you are reading this, then please do the right thing and return to the hospital so you can get the care and support you need. That was the request made by Abid's family when they first made the appeal for his release. It breaks our hearts every day that passes without us learning whether you are secure and healthy.
