After 8 years, Kim Clijsters is ready to present the challenge in the Grand Slam. The 37-year-old Belgian player, who returns after retirement, will play in a Grand Slam for the first time since 2012. On Wednesday, Clijsters will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round. Clijsters had a third-round defeat to Serena Williams when they first competed in the US Open 21 years ago.

After all these years, these two players are ready to show their game again on Flushing Meadows. When Clijsters was asked about her former US Open tournament memories, she recalled her first competition with Serena. Serena won the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, and eventually won the first trophy of her 23 Grand Slam awards.

Clijsters said, "It was a great match. The atmosphere was fantastic. I have felt this type of energy whenever I played here. It is wonderful to play any match of the night at Arthur Ace Stadium". Clijsters won awards in 2005, 2009 and 2010 at the US Open. She defeated Serena in the last in 2009. In addition, she also won the Australian Open in 2011. Once again, she is ready to play.

I hope this win will lead to reconsideration in the Sports Ministry of the Arjuna award: Vishwanath Anand
