Washington: Former Mayor of New York City and the United States President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani has claimed that the North Korea supremo Kim Jong un literally "begged" president Trump to reschedule their summit.

According Fox News, Giuliani said on Wednesday that after Trump sent a letter to Kim in which he cancelled the June 12 meeting in Singapore, "Kim got back on his hands and knees and begged for it."

In May, Trump called off the US- North Koria, blaming hostility and anger displayed by North Korea regarding the US-South Korea 'Max Thunder' military drills.

The deadlock on the subject of the fate of the summit broke after Vice-Chairman of the North Korean ruling Workers' Party's Central Committee, Kim Yong Chol visited the White House along with a letter written by Kim and met the US President.

The much-anticipated summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will be on Singapore`s southern island of Sentosa, the White House said on Tuesday as preparations gather speed for next week's event.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders in his Twitter post said that the venue would be the Capella Hotel on Sentosa and thanked Singaporeans for their hospitality. The summit is programmed to start on the morning of June 12.
