New Delhi: Preparations have started to withdraw the cases registered against the farmers in the violence during the farmers' movement in the capital of the country. Delhi government's final nod for withdrawal of cases is awaited. The Home Department of the Delhi Government has already held a meeting on the list of cases sent by the Delhi Police. According to official sources, the file has been sent to Delhi government's Home Minister Satyendar Jain for a final decision. It is being told that the case of Red Fort violence is also involved in this.

Let us inform that in the year 2020-21, farmers were agitating on the borders of the capital to demand the repeal of three agricultural laws. During that on 26 January 2021, during a farmers' march, there was a violent clash with the police in different parts of Delhi including the Red Fort. Police had earlier registered 25 cases in this regard, with subsequent investigation, a total of 54 cases have been registered in other cases including violence on farmers.

After withdrawing the agricultural laws, the process of withdrawing the cases registered against the farmers has also started. The state governments have to take the final decision on this. According to a senior Delhi government official, Delhi Police has sent 17 cases out of 54 FIRs registered during the farmers' agitation. These cases were sent on 28 January 2022. Police say that these are the cases in which the cases can be withdrawn.
