Karnal: Farmers protesting against CM Manohar Lal's meeting in Karnal, Haryana blocked the National Highway. Police had to resort to lathi-charge to prevent the commotion. Several people were injured in the lathi charge. A crucial meeting of the state government on panchayat and local body elections is underway at Hotel Prem Plaza on Railway Road. It mainly has CM Manohar Lal Khattar. Farmers have come out in protest against this meeting.

Earlier, farmers tried to jam the highway at Bastada toll plaza at 12 noon. The police first asked the farmers not to do so, but the farmers did not listen to one of them. The police then resorted to lathi-charge and emptied the National Highway. Meanwhile, a farmer also tried to attack a policeman from Kasi. 12 farmers have been reported injured in lathi-charge. Farmers had announced their opposition to the BJP meeting held at Prem Plaza on Railway Road in the city.

For this, the farmers were earlier supposed to join the Dera Car Service, but due to the understanding of the administration, the farmers could not get here. The farmers had then started gathering at Bastada toll plaza. The utterances between the police and the farmers continued till 12 noon. The farmers were adamant that they would march towards Karnal, but this could not be possible due to the heavy police force. So the farmers decided to jam the highway. Meanwhile, Haryana's Khattar government has been strongly opposed after the lathi-charge on farmers #Kishan_Virodhi_Khattar started trending on Twitter.
