Indian film actress Kitu Gidwani is celebrating her birthday today. She is an Indian actress and model. She has acted in a few films and in many serials of Indian television. She became popular after a TV series, Air Hostess, which aired on Doordarshan in 1986. She was highly praised for her roles in Dance of the Wind (1997), Deepa Mehta Ki Earth (1998) and Govind Nihalani Ki Rukhmavati Ki Haveli (1991), Kamal Haasan's Abhay and Deham (2001).

Kitu Gidwani was born in Mumbai. Her parents were Sindhis who migrated from Pakistan after partition and came to India. She stayed in a refugee camp in Worli. She has a brother. She studied at Fort Convent School, Mumbai. During her postgraduate studies, she started taking interest in French and started acting in French plays. She soon acted in English plays directed by Janak Toprani. She acted in several television serials and then acted in a French film "Black" (1987).

Gidwani started television with TV Soap Trishna in 1984 and played many memorable characters in TV serials such as Swabhimaan, Air Hostess and Junoon during the 1980s and 90s. She attracted a lot of audience by giving a kiss scene in bed with actor Raj Zutshi in Junoon. Recently she appeared in Hindi serials Kashish and Kulvadhu along with many other actors. The actress has achieved many achievements in her career.
