Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab with three wickets against Mumbai Indians in a thrilling match. Though Punjab suffered defeat Punjab’s batsman KL Rahul impressed the audience with his phenomenal knock. Rahul notch up an unbeaten score of 100 runs off 63 deliveries. With the impressive knock, Rahul joined Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina in an elite T20 club.

Rahul became the fourth centurion this year and 10th from the KXIP camp overall. And, he became the third Indian batsman to score a century in both IPL and T20I.

Rahul took off to a cautious start and only struck occasional boundaries, allowing Chris Gayle to take charge in the opening partnership.. Following the dismissal of the Gayle, Mumbai looked to make a comeback as they dismissed three batters between 13 and 18 overs. But it was right then that Rahul switched on his beast mode. He notched up 23 runs against Hardik Pandya - three maximum and one four - in the 19th over before reaching the triple-figure mark in the very next over. His maiden IPL century helped KXIP amass 197/4 at the end of the innings.

Talking about match, Batting first, KXIP posted a huge score of 197-4 in 20 overs following KL Rahul’s smashing century and Chris Gayle’s quickfire knock of 63 runs off 36 balls. MI started the chase on a bright note but kept losing wickets at regular interval. Pollard’s introduction in the chase completely changed the tone of the game and he led team to the victory.
