Kannanur Lokesh Rahul, famously known as their short name KL Rahul, celebrates his 31st birthday today, April 18, 2023.
Rahul is an Indian international cricketer and currently vice-captain of the India national cricket team in all formats. He began his professional career in 2010 with the Indian U-19 team in the U-10 World Cup.
He made his first-class debut for his native state of Karnataka a year later. Rahul, who amassed over a thousand runs in the competition, including a century against Maharashtra in the final, was crucial to Karnataka's 2013–14 Ranji Trophy success.
Rahul was called up to the national team as a result of his performance, and he played his first Test during the 2014 tour of Australia. Rahul didn't make much of an impact in his first game, but he did so in Sydney's subsequent game, where he scored an outstanding century. The right-hander scored 110 against the ferocious Australian speed attack by using outstanding technique.
While doing so, he also made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2013 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, a side with a small fan base in India.
Rahul was selected for the national team's 2016 tour of Zimbabwe, where he had yet another strong debut. He became the first Indian cricketer to make a century in his debut ODI, scoring a century.
Rahul had a strong start to his career, but in the years that followed, his consistency was questioned. He made an effort to solve the problem with his batting, though, and firmly established himself on the Indian team.
Rahul has participated in 43 Test matches and has amassed 2547 runs with an average of 35.4 and a top score of 199. The right-hander has played in 42 ODIs and scored 1634 runs. Rahul's statistics are similarly excellent and a testament to his abilities as an all-format performer. In 56 T20I games, he has amassed 1831 runs at an outstanding average of 40.69.
