Kolkata: In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections (KMC) held in West Bengal, opposition parties have accused the ruling TMC of violence. Amidst allegations of violence, a surprising case has been filed in the Kolkata High Court on Wednesday. On the day of Kolkata Municipal Corporation election i.e. on Sunday, from ward number 16, Congress candidate Ravi Saha was beaten up naked on the road.
Congress candidate Ravi Saha has filed a case in the court of Justice Rajasekhar Mantha regarding his security. The matter can be heard tomorrow. On the other hand, Kolkata Police has arrested a person for tampering with EVM. Let us inform that the people of TMC have been accused of violence and rigging during the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections. However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has completely denied these allegations. The police and the State Election Commission had also termed the election as overall peaceful. In the election results, TMC has succeeded in re-capturing KMC by winning 134 out of 144 seats. The BJP, Congress and CPI(M) have not even reached the second number in the elections. The performance of BJP has been very poor as compared to the assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the police of Kolkata, the capital of Bengal, has arrested a youth for tampering with EVM. He has been identified as Gaurav Das. Kolkata Police's Joint Commissioner (Crime) Murlidhar Sharma has given information regarding this arrest on Wednesday morning. He has told that the police of Badtala police station has arrested him. Police said that the complainant had provided a video to the Bartala police station, in which it could be seen that 33-year-old Gaurav Das was continuously pressing the EVM button.
