Today is the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesha had taken eight avatars which he had taken to destroy the sinners. So today we are going to tell you a story related to some of his incarnations.

Vakratund- According to mythological beliefs, Gajanan killed the sons of the demon Matsarasur in this form. It is said that this demon was an ardent devotee of Shiva and by doing penance, he got a boon from him that he would not fear anyone. Matsarasura started harassing the gods with the permission of Devguru Shukracharya. He also had two sons, Sundarpriya and Vishyapriya, both of whom were also very tyrannical. All the gods reached the shelter of Shiva. Shiva assured them that they should invoke Ganesh, Ganapati took Vakratund avatar. The Gods worshipped and Ganapati killed both sons of Matsarasur in the form of Vakratund and defeated Matsarasura as well. The Matsarasur later became a devotee of Ganapati.

Ekadant- Maharishi Chyavan created a demon named Mada with austerity. He was called the son of Chyavan. Shukracharya the guru of the demons, taught him. Shukracharya made him proficient in all kinds of things. On getting educated, he started opposing the gods. He started harassing the deities. All the deities together worshipped Ganpati. Then Lord Ganesha appeared in Ekadant form. He had four arms, a tooth, a big belly and his head was like an elephant. He had a loop, parshu, Ankush and a feeding lotus in his hand. Ekadanta freed the Gods and defeated Madasura in battle.

Mahodar - It is said that when Kartikeya killed Tarakasura, the demon Guru Shukracharya pitted the monster named Mohasur against the gods. Gods worshipped Ganesha for liberation from Mohasur. Then Ganesh incarnated Mahodar. Mahodar means big belly. When he reached the city of Mohasur riding on a mouse, Mohasur made Ganapati his favourite without fighting.
