Raipur: A five-year-old boy in Chhattisgarh's Surguja has been appointed as a 'child constable' after the death of his father. On compassionate grounds, the five-year-old son of the deceased policeman has also been appointed as a child constable. The child's father had died in an accident. According to Surguja Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhavna Gupta, Rajkumar Rajwade was a police constable who lost his life in an accident. After the incident, his son Naman Rajwade has also been appointed as a child constable on compassionate grounds on Thursday.

Surguja Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhavna Gupta said that when the child completes 18 years of age, he is going to become a full-time constable. He said that according to the guidelines of the police headquarters, when a policeman dies untimely on duty, then a person above 18 years of age has also been appointed in the family of the deceased.

 

Neeru Rajwade, wife of the deceased constable, has said in a conversation with the media that her husband lost his life in an accident, now her son has been appointed as a child constable in the police department on compassionate grounds.She said "she is also sad but happy with this decision of the police department for his child."
