India is also beginning to deepen its coal threat amid the global shortage of coal. Several power plants in the country are left with only 3 to 5 days of coal stock. In view of the situation, there is a possibility that this threat may deepen. States like Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra have complained to the Central Government about reduction in power generation due to coal threat. However, the Central Government has completely ruled out the shortage of coal. The Centre says there is a shortage of coal, but that ahista-ahista will be removed. The apprehensions of an impact on power supply are completely wrong. Let us understand how coal is made of electricity.

What is the latest crisis over coal:-
In fact, there are reports of shortage of coal in coal power plants across the country. 70% of the electricity generated in the country comes from thermal power plants. Out of the total power plants, 137 power plants run on coal, out of which 72 power plants have 3 days of coal remaining till 7th October, 2021. 50 plants have less than 4 days of coal remaining.

How does coal generate electricity?
* First, small pieces of coal coming from the mine are finely chopped and ground like powder.
* This coal is used to heat water in boilers. The water turns into a high-pressure steam after heating, which is used to rotate the turbine.
* These turbines are also the same as water turbines. The only difference is that steam is used to rotate these turbines.
* These turbines are connected to the generator. The rotation of the turbine produces magnetic field in the generator and this generates electricity.
