Bangalore:After Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and Himachal Pradesh, the BJP government in Karnataka has also taken a tough stand on conversion. The Karnataka government is going to introduce an anti-conversion bill (Karnataka Anti Conversion Bill) in the Assembly. It has also been drafted and provides for punishment ranging from 3 to 10 years for conversion in Karnataka. In addition, the accused of conversion will also be fined up to Rs 1 lakh.

According to the current draft, karnataka's anti-conversion bill provides for imprisonment ranging from 3 years to 5 years and a fine of Rs 25,000 for a person convicted of illegally converting an adult. A provision has been made for imprisonment ranging from 3 years to 10 years and fine of up to 50,000 rupees for a minor, woman or SC and person convicted of illegal conversion of ST category.

Apart from this, a person who illegally converts a large number of people together, there is a provision of imprisonment from 3 years to 10 years and he can be fined up to one lakh rupees. Not only this, after the order of the court, the guilty person may also have to pay a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh to the victim. However, it will be discussed after it is presented in the assembly and there may be some amendments in it.
