In Hinduism, the month of Magha is considered to be the best month, it is said that Dwapara Yuga started from this day. The day of Amavasya, in the middle of the month of Magh, has a special significance; On this day, bathing in the holy rivers achieves special virtue. It is said that on this day the water of the Ganges becomes like nectar.

Therefore, Maghi Amavasya is considered special for bathing in Magh. On this day, a fast is kept silent, and one has to practice like monks throughout the day, for this reason, why Amavasya is called Mauni Amavasya. This year, Mauni Amavasya fast can be observed on 24 January. In Hindu scriptures, the day of Mauni Amavasya is considered as a day of charity, it is believed that on this day Manu Rishi was also born. Due to which this day is celebrated as Mauni Amavasya. Lord Maha Vishnu can be attained by worshipping and bathing the river in the month of Magha.

Apart from this, bathing, donating, chanting, rituals in Narmada, Ganga, Indus, Kaveri and other holy rivers on the day of Mauni Amavasya eliminates many faults. On this day worshiping Brahmadev and Gayatri is also very fruitful. Tulsi Parikrama should be done 108 times on the same Mauni Amavasya. Those who have weak moon, feed yogurt and rice to the cow. In such a situation, mental peace will be attained. Apart from this, chanting mantras, performing siddhis and donating and observing a silent vow also leads to merit.
