Amritsar: Results of Punjab Assembly Election 2022 have started coming. As per the early trends, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seems to be coming to power with an absolute majority. In this election, the eyes of the people are fixed on the Patiala seat of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Just before the election, he formed a party named Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) and has contested the elections in alliance with the BJP, but he is seen losing the Patiala seat.

Ajit Pal Singh Kohli of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has maintained a good lead in the Patiala Assembly. Ajit is leading with around 20 thousand votes and Captain Amarinder Singh remains at number two with 10 thousand votes. Let us inform that Ajit Pal Singh Kohli has been a former mayor. Ajit's family members have been contesting elections on the ticket of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) party. This time Kohli is contesting on AAP ticket.

According to reports, Ajit became the mayor in 2011 after becoming a councilor from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Ajit's family is known as Taksali Akali Dal in Punjab. His father Surjit Singh Kohli has been a cabinet minister in the Punjab government after winning the assembly elections on an Akali Dal ticket.
