Lala Amarnath also completed his century in the second innings of the match in Mumbai in the first Test against England. He scored the century at the Gentle Old Gymkhana Ground in Bombay. He scored 118 runs in 185 minutes with the help of 21 fours. He had reached 83 in just 78 minutes, outwitted everyone from fast bowlers to spinners, completing his century in 117 minutes. In 1947, Amarnath dismissed Bradman as a hitwicket in the middle of the Brisbane Test. Bradman, who was dismissed 70 times in his career, was just once a hitwicket out. Bradman played an innings off 336 balls with 185 runs.

According to reports, Amarnath scored 878 runs in 24 Tests at an average of 24.38 with 1 century and 4 half-centuries. He also picked up 45 wickets at an average of 32.91, scoring more than 10,000 runs in 186 first-class matches and taking 463 wickets with an excellent average of 22.98.
