New Delhi: Today is the birth anniversary of Ramabai Ambedkar, the wife of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, who contributed significantly in the making of the Constitution of India. Ramabai Ambedkar was born on 7 February 1898. She has been one of the biggest inspirations for social justice Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. She came from a humble background and was the second child of Bhiku Datare Valangkar and Rukmini. She is still remembered by the name of Ramai or Mata Ram. Ramabai Ambedkar is one of those women who silently stood firm in rendering support to the architect of our Constitution while being an epitome of humility, resilience, and compassion. 

Ramabai was born in a small village called Dabhol in Maharashtra and was married at the age of nine to Bhimrao Ambedkar. Ramai is a 1992 drama directed by Ashok Gawli. Pratham Devi played the role of Ramabai Ambedkar in the 1990 Marathi film Bheem Garjana, directed by Vijay Pawar. Yugpurush Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a 1993 Marathi film directed by Shashikant Nalvade, starred Chitra Koppikar as Ramabai Ambedkar. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a 2000 English film, directed by Jabbar Patel, starring Sonali Kulkarni as Ramabai Ambedkar.

Ramabai Ambedkar is one of those women who silently but gave great support to Babasaheb. She was the epitome of humility, flexibility, and compassion. Ramabai Bhimrao Ambedkar A staunch supporter of social justice, has been one of the greatest inspirations for Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
