The festival of lights has started across the country today i.e. The festival of Deepawali begins with Dhanteras. The same Chhoti Diwali is being celebrated across the country today. Apart from Chhoti Diwali, it is also known as Narak Chaturdashi, Yam Chaturdashi, Rop Chaudas and Roop Chaturdashi. According to religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Yamaraj on this day relieves various difficulties like longevity and health. It is also said that offering Deepadaan to Yam Dev also averts premature death. On the other hand, on the day of Chhoti Deepawali, there is also legislation to worship Lord Krishna. There is a story behind this.

Legend of Narak Chaturdashi:-
According to religious beliefs, there was a demon named Narkasur, who had misused his power to imprison 16,000 women. Then, all the captive women, worried about the tyranny of the demon, called out to Lord Krishna for help. To get rid of the demon, Shri Krishna killed Narkasur. All the deities and saints, including the women who were captive from the terror of Narkasur, were also freed. According to mythological beliefs, Lord Krishna accepted all of them as his wives to give respect and recognition to all these women in society. On the other hand, people lit lamps in their houses to celebrate the killing of Narkasur. It is said that from then on Narak Chaturdashi or Chhoti Diwali started being celebrated.
