In November 2020, lyricist and movie writer Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against actress Kangana Ranaut. In which Javed Akhtar claimed that the actress would also issue a derogatory statement against him in the middle of an interview. Along with this, after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020, Kangana had dragged his name in the middle of an interview, referring to a 'faction' present in Bollywood. Because of this his reputation was damaged. After the petition was filed, actress Kangana Ranaut filed a cross-complaint against Javed Akhtar. In this complaint, he had accused lyricist Javed Akhtar of criminal conspiracy.

According to media reports, both the complaints were to be heard by Andheri Court Magistrate RR Khan. This is the reason why Kangana had requested the sessions court to transfer her cross-examination to another magistrate. Earlier, Kangana had approached the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court, stating that the charges against her were "bailable, non-cognizable and compoundable". He had also claimed that Andheri court magistrate RR Khan had made a request to "abuse his powers and cause injury" even before the trial began. However, in October 2021, his petition was rejected by the CMM Court.

Now the actress with the help of her lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui has also filed a revision application in the Dindoshi sessions court. In her application, Kangana has said that "Andheri court has said many times that they are going to issue warrant against me. That is the reason I am not comfortable getting my case heard in this court." Javed Akhtar's lawyer Jay Bhardwaj has hit out at Kangana saying that every time the actress has a strange excuse of not appearing before the court, Kangana has moved the Dindoshi sessions court and before the sessions court. has filed a fresh petition for transfer of his cross-complaint to another competent magistrate.Additional Sessions Judge Shridhar Bhosale is now scheduled to hear the petition on January 27, 2022.
