While he was studying at the institute, Braille developed a touch code to help people with blindness read and write. Later, Braille created a new method inspired by Charles Barber's military cryptography. Braille presented his work publicly for the first time in 1824. A few years later, Braille served as a professor and spent a great time of his life expanding the system. Braille first published the system in 1829.
