WAYANAD: Showing display of social commitment, a Kochi-based software development company has stepped up to enhance relief operations for landslide survivors in Wayanad, Kerala.
Faircode Infotech, led by co-founder Rajith Ramachandran, has volunteered to implement an advanced inventory management system at the relief collection center established at St Joseph's Higher Secondary School. This system has significantly improved the efficiency of revenue officials who were previously overwhelmed by the influx of relief materials. Now, with streamlined operations, aid distribution to affected families has become more organized and timely.
Rajith shared, "We reached out to the deputy Collector of Wayanad on July 31, and she welcomed our initiative. Our ERP software has simplified the process for everyone involved." His team also provided training to 10 revenue department officials, who quickly adapted to the new system.
The implementation of this software aims to bring transparency to the entire relief material collection and distribution process. "The public can now access our website to see what items are available and what is still needed," Rajith added.
A team of five from Faircode Infotech, alongside 10 revenue department members, diligently logs each item received and tracks the materials sent to various camps and community kitchens. Nakul R, another team member, emphasized the importance of donating essential items. "We request the public to check our website before donating to avoid sending items we cannot store or distribute, like bread," Nakul explained.
The system operates similarly to a stock inventory in a hypermarket, minus specifics like brand and pricing. It allows camp managers to view available inventory and order what they need, ensuring that no items go to waste.
Rajith, 39, originally from Palakkad, has a history of supporting relief efforts. "We've done this during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2018 floods. We developed similar solutions for Kerala Beverages Corporation and KSEB," he said.
Thanks to the efforts of Rajith and his team, the district administration has been able to effectively manage relief supplies, ensuring that only necessary items reach those in need.
