KOLKATA: Amir Khan, the prime accused in the deception of several people using a mobile gaming app, has finally been arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, by a squad of Kolkata Police.

On September 10, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had collected cash worth Rs 17.32 crore from Khan's apartment. On Saturday morning, a municipal police official reported that Amir Khan had vanished while ED investigators were removing cash from his home in Kolkata's Garden Reach neighborhood's Shahi Astabal Lane.

The accused, however, kept switching his hiding place from one city to another, making it difficult for the authorities to locate him down using the tower placements.

He was detained in Ghaziabad, and the arresting squad from the municipal police has begun the process of returning him to Kolkata through transit remand. The precise moment of his arrest, nevertheless, has not yet been disclosed by Kolkata Police.

According to the Kolkata Police, Amir Khan's father Naser Khan, a transport dealer by trade, genuinely owned the house where ED sleuths seized enormous amounts of cash.  Along with finding a sizable sum of money, the ED investigators also found some papers and a journal in the room where the money was hidden on September 10.

In accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the ED conducted raids on six locations in Kolkata on September 10. Based on a complaint made by Federal Bank officials against Amir Khan and others, a case was opened at the Park Street police station in Kolkata.

E-Nuggets was a mobile gaming app that Amir Khan had introduced; it was made with the intention of scamming users. Users initially gained confidence because they were paid with commission during the early stages and could easily withdraw their wallet balance, which led them to start spending larger sums in order to earn higher commission percentages and more buy orders.

After receiving sizable donations from the general public, the stated app abruptly ceased allowing withdrawals under various pretexts. Following that, the aforementioned app server had all data wiped clean.
