Kolkata: The Kolkata High Court has ordered the Mamata Banerjee government to file FIRs in all cases over the post-election violence in West Bengal. It has also ordered treatment of all victims of violence and free ration to them. The high court said that this ration should also be given to those whose cards are not made.

The high court order is seen as a major setback for the Mamata Banerjee government. This is because the Mamata government has been rejecting allegations of post-election violence in the state. The Mamata government says it is a BJP propaganda. In order to register a case, the High Court has also extended the tenure of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team investigating the cases.

The NHRC team will now probe the electoral violence cases by July 13. The high court has fixed the next date of hearing in the case on the same day. Moreover, the High Court has ordered the Chief Secretary of the state to preserve all documents of violence related cases after the elections. The Human Rights Commission was also ordered by the High Court to set up an inquiry team.
