Bhopal: Korea to Promote Economic Cooperation with Madhya Pradesh in Multiple Sectors, Push CSR Activities
In a significant development highlighting the strong bilateral relationship between India and Korea, a Korean mission named "Team Korea" visited Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The delegation, comprised of representatives from various Korean organizations, including the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korean International Trade Association (KITA), Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME), Korea Institute for International Economy Policy (KIEP), Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), and Invest India Korea Plus, arrived in Madhya Pradesh on June 22nd, 2023. Their visit aimed to foster economic cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in multiple sectors. This article delves into the highlights of their visit, showcasing the potential for mutual growth and the significant role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in strengthening the ties between Korea and Madhya Pradesh.

The primary objective of the visit was to strengthen economic cooperation between Madhya Pradesh and Korea. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea, in partnership with KOTRA, MPIDC (Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation), and CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) as industry partners, hosted the 2023 Korea-India CSR-Economic Cooperation Seminar in Bhopal. This event served as a crucial milestone, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The visit of Team Korea to Madhya Pradesh is a testament to the sustained relationship and dialogue between Korea and the state. Last year, Principal Secretary Manish Singh visited the Korean embassy, extending an invitation to the Korean delegation to participate in the 'Invest Madhya Pradesh - Global Investors Summit' held in Indore earlier this year. The visit of Team Korea serves as a continuation of these efforts, further solidifying the ties between Korea and Madhya Pradesh.

KOTRA, the Commercial Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, aims to highlight the attractive features of Madhya Pradesh to Korean companies in both India and Korea. The delegation expressed great enthusiasm for witnessing Madhya Pradesh's transformation into the most developed and dynamic state in India. Kwang Seok Yang, the Commercial Attaché at the Korean Embassy in New Delhi, emphasized Madhya Pradesh's potential to become India's logistics hub. While the state's economy has traditionally relied heavily on agriculture, the government's focus has now expanded to encompass logistics, textiles, aviation, chemicals, and tourism. These sectors present lucrative opportunities for both domestic and foreign investors.
