The second largest automobile manufacturer in Korea and the eighth largest in the world is planning to become the fifth largest in India. Kia is ready to make a roar in India by reaching its full capacity of producing 3,00,000 vehicles in its new $1.1 Billion in Andhra Pradesh by 2022. Cars will be manufactured solely in India and not like other manufacturers who import the kits and assemble it locally. Thanks to the massive facility at Andhra Pradesh. The plant is going to hire about 3000 employees when it is fully operational.

Kia recently launched a video teaser for its upcoming SUV ?Sportage? in India which is going to roll out in the mid-2019. The target is to be the market leader of the compact utility vehicle segment and Kia will be eyeing to price the Sportage between 10-16 lakhs. It will compete directly with Hyundai Creta which is currently holding the throne along with Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano which are also doing good.

With the first operational plan of three years, Kia is set to come up with new cars every six months to fulfill its target of selling 3 lakhs vehicle by 2022. To achieve this, they have hit the ball out of the ballpark in terms of network and service facilities. The company has promised to surprise the industry by having the deepest and widest range of networks. The company has also committed to being as near to the customers as never before with the best service facility and price. The company has made a clear statement of crossing the 70-dealership mark with high leverage.

The company has also planned to enter other mass segments like the sub-4m SUV, premium hatchback and MPV. You can expect the launch of the current generation of Kia Rio soon which is a premium hatchback and is already on sale globally. The powertrain of Rio is shared with that of Hyundai i20 elite. Although the company had not yet made any announcements regarding the launch. Globally Kia has no lineup in the Sub-4m SUV segment. It is one the largest contested in the country with the upcoming launch of Hyundai QXi. Kia needs to bring up one soon to be a part of the hot pie. Cars like Innova Crysta has for now covered the MPV front satisfactorily. Kia has confirmed of developing the Crysta rival with its flagship Carnival. The Kia Carnival is going to be more premium than the Innova Crysta.

The plan is not over yet as Kia is also planning to introduce an electric vehicle for India as well. Kia has started reshaping itself for the Indian EV platform as it is evident that India might become an all-electric nation by 2030.

Being the Indian subsidiary of the Hyundai-Kia group, Kia is ready to hit hard in Business and be on the top five within three years. Kia is planning to govern the market share of about 7% by the end of its first three-year operation in India.

By the steps taken by Kia to set up a large dealership before introducing its fleet of cars and covering 6-7 % market share, Kia looks serious in making an impact in the Indian car market. It will definitely take the four-wheelers with a storm. However, whether the Korean automaker will be able to manage the high targets or not, they are surely looking ambitious. You can always hope for new surprises from the automaker towards its journey in the country. You never know what's next. We wish good luck to the Korean manufacturer for its future endeavors in the country.
