Kotkhai rape-murder case court awards life imprisonment to convict

Dehradun: Neelu, convicted in the 2017 Kotkhai rape and murder case in Uttarakhand, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Sessions Judge Rajiv Bhardwaj has sentenced convict Neelu to life imprisonment in a court. In kotkhai, CBI has investigated the 2017 doll rape and murder case and found Charani Neelu guilty in the challan. Neelu was convicted by the Special Court of Shimla district on April 28. On which the sentence was to be fixed for the guilty, but the hearing was postponed continuously due to corona restrictions. After which Neelu was sentenced to life imprisonment today.

On July 4, 2017, a student from Kotkhai in Shimla district went missing while returning from school. The body of the victim was recovered naked in tandi forest of Kotkhai on July 6. After that, the SIT constituted in the case also remained behind bars in the lock-up Suraj massacre. The state government went to the High Court over a CBI inquiry into the cbi probe, on which the HC had issued orders to the CBI to probe the situation, not being satisfied with the public SIT investigation, the centre's lack of clarity on the CBI probe and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

CBI arrested an accused named Neelu on April 13, 2018 in the case. The CBI had submitted the challan against Neelu Chirani in the court in July 2018. Neelu has now been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
