Kathmandu: KP Sharma Oli is set to be sworn in as Nepal's PM for the third time on Friday. He was re-appointed to the post on Thursday when opposition parties failed to win a majority in Parliament to form a new government. President Vidya Devi Bhandari has re-elected CPN-UML chairman, 69-year-old Oli as PM on Thursday night. Three days ago, he could not prove a crucial vote of confidence in the House of Representatives.

He was earlier PM of Nepal from October 11, 2015 to August 3, 2016 and then from February 15, 2018 to May 13, 2021. The President will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Oli at a function at 2.30 pm local time on Friday at Sheetal Niwas. After Oli lost the floor test in the House on Monday, the President had given opposition parties time till 9 pm on Thursday to stake claim to form a new government with a majority.

By Thursday, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba was expected to get enough votes in the House to hold his candidature as the next PM. He had the support of CPN-Maoist Centre President Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. But after a last-minute meeting with Oli, Madhav Kumar's dream of becoming Deuba's next PM was shattered when Nepal changed its stand.
