BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corp (KSRTC) unveiled 15 new Volvo a5-VI 5600s Multi Axle 'Ambari Utsav' sleeper buses in the first phase of the induction of 50 such vehicles. 

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, inaugurated these new vehicles. One of India's largest public transportation companies, KSRTC, operates 28 lakh kilometres through 8000 schedules while carrying 28 lakh passengers.  Around 17 percent of students are availing of the transport services provided by KSRTC, and it is earning Rs10 crores per day.

These new Volvo cars have been given the names "Ambari Utsav" and "Celebration of Travel" by KSRTC, which were chosen in a public vote. These trucks will be used on a variety of routes, including the Kundapur-Bengaluru route. Bengaluru-Secunderabad, Bengaluru-Hyderabad, Bengaluru-Emakulam, and Mangaluru-Poona Bangalore-Thinavananthampuram Bangalore-Panajl and Bengaluru-Trichur The 15-meter-long Volvo 08-11 0600s Multi-Axle Sleeper vehicles contain the following salient characteristics.

With 40 berths in a 2x1 arrangement and best-in-class headroom, the sleeper bus provides passengers with unmatched comfort while they are sitting or sleeping. The KSRTC Volvo-600s is based on the high standards for quality, safety, and the environment that are characteristic of Scandinavian design. The KSRTC Viva-0E00s model vehicle's treet is a component of an aerodynamic masterpiece that works in tandem to lessen air resistance during high-speed runs, which saves fuel.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corp  is also taking up renovation of vehicles. Thus far, 250 vehicles have been renovated and put into operation. Further, KSRTC plans to induct 600 Karnataka Sarige buses in the next 3 months to provide transport facilities to passengers in rural areas, said another release from the transport utility. Notably, The KSRTC is currently operating one prototype electric bus and plans to induct 50 e-buses on intercity routes by March 2023. it also aims to induct 350 e-buses in a phased manner to provide well-equipped transport facilities.
