Recently, he advised undertaking a task on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Marking the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, the State government will be observing October 2 as Swachchata Diwas across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and will focus on sanitation and cleanliness. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao gave instructions to all the municipal commissioners to complete the development of public toilets before October 2 as the date is termed as the deadline.

In a video conference held with municipal chairpersons and commissioners in Hyderabad on Monday, the Minister commanded the officials involved to take up segregation of wet and dry waste on a large scale with special focus on waste management. He also wanted them to establish compost and dry resource collection centers in the State before the deadline of October 2.

The Minister suggested the delivery of safety equipment to sanitation workers on the event and assured that their salaries must be paid without any delay. He directed the officials to achieve the planned green coverage under Haritha Haraam program and also establish total of 1,000 nurseries across all the ULBs.
