Some storytellers call Manthara even the main villain of Ramkatha because Sita and Ram had to suffer exile because of her. Manthara was not Maid, but Kaikeyi's sister? - Both were sisters and while being sisters, good friends too. Kaikeyi had brought Manthara with her after marrying the King of Ayodhya Dasharatha.

Manthara was Princess Rekha? - Kaikeya state is said to be a place between the present-day Caucasus or Kashmir or Afghanistan and Punjab. It is said that King Ashwapati had one brother, Vrihadshrav and his daughter was Princess Rekha. Rekha has been described as Vishalakshi i.e. big-eyed and extremely intelligent. Princess Rekha had consumed something inappropriate to always maintain her form, which caused her body to bend and become ugly. One of the reasons for being ugly is said that she was a victim of Tridosha due to the consumption of syrup and her body was slanted from three places. During that time, Princess Rekha came to be called Manthara due to this disease. She was also mentally disturbed and her behaviour often became bad due to relocation.

Kaikeyi did not leave together - Even after Princess Rekha turned ugly, Kaikeyi remained attached to her, so she took her with her to Ayodhya after marriage. In Ayodhya, she was ridiculed due to her ugliness and she was considered as the maid of Kaikeyi. In anger, Manthara provoked Kaikeyi for Ram's exile to Ayodhya. Many such stories are found which are related to Manthara and it is difficult to believe anyone.
