SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the killing of a Hindu woman teacher by terrorists inside a government school in Kulgam on Tuesday, saying the perpetrators will face a "unforgettable response."

Rajni Bala (36), a non-Muslim government employee based in Gopalpora, Kulgam, was the second non-Muslim government employee killed in May and the seventh targeted death in Kashmir this month.

'The terrorist attack on Rajni Bala, a schoolteacher, is the most heinous atrocity. My heartfelt condolences to the family who has lost a loved one. Terrorists and their sympathisers will face an unforgettable retaliation for the heinous attack," Sinha wrote on Twitter.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a veteran Congressman, also denounced the incident. "I am heartbroken to learn about the heartbreaking occurrences of targeted killings of two women in Kashmir, Amreen Bhat and Rajani Bala, in the last week. 'I strongly condemn Rajani Bala's assassination," Azad wrote on Twitter. "I strongly encourage the administration to take concrete steps to protect the lives of innocent civilians." I'd want to extend my condolences to the deceased families," he said.

M Y Tarigami, the leader of the CPI(M), called the teacher's death "tragic" and "unfortunate." "This is just the latest in a long line of innocent deaths. The bloodletting appears to have no end. The administration must relocate these personnel to safer locations and provide them with secure housing," he urged.
