Chandigarh: Poet Dr. Kumar Vishwas, a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has filed a petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court seeking quashing of the case registered against him in Ropar, Punjab. The High Court is likely to hear his petition soon. Let us inform that before the assembly elections, Kumar Vishwas had made serious allegations against AAP President and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. After this, the Ropar police had registered a case against him.

A case was registered against Kumar Vishwas under sections 153, 153A, 505, 505 (2), 116 along with sections 143, 147, 323 (assault), 341, 120-B (criminal conspiracy). Apart from Kumar Vishwas, a case was also registered against senior Congress leader Alka Lamba. Lamba has been accused of supporting the remarks made by Kumar Vishwas. Punjab Congress has demanded immediate quashing of the FIR registered against party leaders Alka Lamba and Kumar Vishwas. The Congress has also demanded strict action against the officials who were allegedly negligent in registering the case.

In this regard, Punjab Congress Committee chief Amarinder Raja Vading and Congress Legislature Party leader Pratap Singh Bajwa have also written letters to the DGP of Punjab. He wrote that if the police does not do this then the Congress party will protest on the road.
