Amid speculation that the BJP government would quit politics, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has made a big statement in the state. He told JDS workers in Mandya that "be prepared for the election." There will be elections in the state very soon. Elections can be held on 17 seats (seats of ineligible MLAs). It is also possible that the elections will be held in the entire 224 seats. I am sure this Karnataka government will not last for long.

For your information, Kumaraswamy resigned as chief minister with a 14-month-old Congress-JDS coalition government after he failed to prove his confidence vote in July. Since then, the then President KR Ramesh Kumar had disqualified 17 rebel MLAs (14 Congress and three JDS). The legislators were then expelled from their respective parties. After his resignation, Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the state.
