Bangalore: Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Kumaraswamy accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of engaging in "appeasement politics" following the latter's announcement that the Karnataka government has increased funds for the minorities department.

Siddaramaiah, speaking at an event, stated, "Each year, we consistently increase funds for the minorities department within our government. We have decided to allocate Rs 4,000 crore for the minorities department. The previous government reduced the funds allocated for minorities, but I have increased it again this year since our government came into power."

In response, JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy criticized Siddaramaiah, stating that he made "such statements everywhere he went" and accused him of "indulging in appeasement politics." Kumaraswamy added, "He's always been making such kind of statements, and there has been no development in the state for 6 months."

Regarding the BJP's recent victories in three states, including two Congress-ruled states, HD Kumaraswamy expressed the belief that the BJP government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would also emerge victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As the Karnataka Assembly's Winter Session began, HD Kumaraswamy outlined his plans to address issues such as development, corruption, and drought during the sessions.
