The preparations for the Kumbh Mela, scheduled to start in Prayagraj on January 15, are in full swing and besides other authorities and agencies, the Uttar Pradesh Police is also putting efforts in making all arrangements to make the Kumbh Mela bother free and protected.

Deputy Inspector General of Uttar Pradesh Police, KP Singh, stated that only those police personnel, who are teetotaler and do not take in non-vegetarian food, have been  associated in Kumbh Mela protection measures.

The police official reported that as many as 20,000 such police personnel have been involved in the security preparations for Kumbh Mela. In which lakhs of devotees to the holy town of Prayagraj likely to appere.

Singh further told that all devotees visiting Prayagraj during Kumbh Mela must keep their identity cards. He also suggested that the devotees to keep with them mobile number of a family member, who could be made contact in case of emergency. This will help the police officials in holding smooth security verification.

 

Approx12 crore devotees are likely to visit the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj. The event will begin January 15.  It is touted as the biggest cultural and religious event in the world.

Worth mention here the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj has been accorded the status of world heritage by the UNESCO. The event will conclude on March 4.

 It has been included in the list of 'intangible cultural heritage of humanity.'Representatives of 192 countries are likely to trip the Kumbh Mela.
