Ace director Pa Ranjith, whose Neelam Productions co-produced the film alongside Yaazhi Films, made the announcement on Twitter.

Ranjith stated, "We are excited to announce that our film 'Kuthiraivaal' will be released in theatres on March 4th. Experience the thrilling adventure in a theatre near you!" Rajesh G's psychological drama 'Kuthiraivaal' is said to be one of the very few Tamil films that have dealt with the notion of magical realism.

For example, the protagonist of the film, Kalaiyarasan, has a dream in which he sees a horse without a tail and then wakes up to discover that he has grown a horse's tail.

Pradeepkumar and Maarten Visser composed the music for this film, and Karthik Muthukumar handled the cinematography for the film.Apart from Kalaiyarasan and Anjali Patel, the film also stars Sowmya Jaganmurthy, Anand Sami, and Chetan.
