BEIRUT – Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah stated during a visit to Lebanon that his country has made suggestions to President Michel Aoun on how Lebanon can reestablish trust with the Gulf states.

"All of these suggestions are based on international legitimacy resolutions and League of Arab States resolutions," Al-Sabah said during a press conference on Sunday following his meeting with Aoun on the second day of his two-day visit to Lebanon. Kuwait does not want Lebanon to be used as a platform for verbal or physical attacks against Arab states, he noted.

The Lebanese President, for his part, stated that Lebanon is committed to implementing the Taif Agreement, and also relevant international legitimacy and Arab resolutions, and that Al-proposal Sabah's will be subject to consultations. Aoun reaffirmed the strength of Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations, praising Kuwait for its unwavering support for Lebanon during difficult times.

This is the first visit to Lebanon by a senior official from a Gulf country in an effort to mend bilateral ties since the two sides developed a diplomatic rift in 2021.
