BISHKEK – The deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament's Seventh convocation chose Talant Mamytov as Speaker. The new parliament's first meeting and inauguration took place on Wednesday, according to the Xinhua report..

Talant Mamytov, a deputy from the Yntymak party, and Adakhan Madumarov, a lawmaker from the Butun Kyrgyzstan group, were the two candidates. As a result, Mamytov received 63 out of 87 parliamentarians' votes, while Madumarov received 10 votes. A total of 14 deputies voted negative on both. The previous convocation's speaker was Mamytov. On November 4, 2020, he was elected. He resigned from the position at the end of October 2021 due to his participation in the November 28 legislative elections.

On Wednesday, the newly elected lawmakers of the Kyrgyz Parliament's 7th convocation also took the oath. Nurzhan Shaildabekova, the head of the country's Central Election Commission (CEC), revealed the official results of the parliamentary elections.

For the first time, Kyrgyzstan's parliamentary elections used a mixed electoral system, with 54 members of the 90-member parliament elected on a proportional basis from political parties and 36 others elected on a majority basis from single-mandate seats.
