Chennai: 21 days lockdown is in force across the country. Meanwhile, daily laborers staged a protest at MGR Street in Yagappa Nagar area of Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. He alleged that due to the lockdown, he did not have the money to buy essential goods. MGR Street is sealed and declared as a containment zone of the coronavirus.

It is worth mentioning that earlier hundreds of migrant laborers, who were troubled by the lockdown in Surat, Gujarat, protested on the streets on Friday night. These people were demanding an arrangement to send them back to their homes. During their fierce demonstration, the workers also burnt several vehicles. The police drove the arsonists and took control of the situation. According to the information received from the police, hundreds of migrant laborers took to the streets on Friday night in Laskana area of Surat, fed up with the lockdown.

Giving information, an officer said that some of these protesting workers set their hands and other vehicles ablaze and vandalized, demanding to be returned to their home state. Police rushed some laborers into custody to prevent the agitation. Then the situation came under control.
