Retail inflation for agricultural and rural labourers increased modestly to 6.44 % and 6.67 % in April 2022, according to the Ministry of Labour and Employment. For the month of April, the All-India Consumer Price Index (CPI) for agricultural and rural labourers climbed by 10 points each, to 1108 and 1119 points, respectively.
"In April 2022, the point-to-point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL stood at 6.44 % and 6.67 %, respectively, compared to 6.09 % and 6.33 % respectively in March 2022 and 2.66 % and 2.94 % respectively during the corresponding month of the previous year," the Ministry of Labour and Employment wrote in an official statement.
According to the government, the food group contributed the most to the increase in consumer price index (CPI) based inflation for agricultural and rural labourers, with 7.32 and 7.13 points respectively. According to the government, this was owing to price increases in rice, wheat-atta, jowar, bajra, ragi, vegetables and fruits, and other items.
The Consumer Price Index N (CPI) number fluctuated from one state to the next. In the case of agricultural labourers, 19 states had a gain of 1 to 20 points, while Tamil Nadu State saw a 7-point reduction. Tamil Nadu led the index table with 1275 points, while Himachal Pradesh came in last with 880 points.
In the case of rural labourers, it increased by 2 to 19 points in 19 states, while it decreased by 7 points in Tamil Nadu. Tamilnadu led the index table with 1263 points, while Himachal Pradesh came in last with 931 points.
